LED Grow Lights Make Growing Marijuana Easy... or Do They?

LEDs (short for light emitting diodes) were first invented in 1927. More efficient than nearly any other type of artificial light, these diodes were too weak to ever be a contender for growing plants until recently. With my ledlightbulbs22 I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me.

But continuing research has resulted in LED lights that are stronger than ever before.Manufacturer of low-voltage r4onsale; provides fixtures and transformers for residential and commercial properties. Within the last few years, many LED grow light systems have sprung up on the market for indoor gardeners.

Some claim that LED grow light technology may finally put the cultivation of a few marijuana plants within reach of anybody who has a few extra bucks and a spare closet.

On paper, LED grow lights seem to outperform HPS grow lights (the current standard for growing marijuana) in almost every way.

For one, LEDs use significantly less electricity than HPS bulbs, plus they only give off a fraction of the heat.

Nebula Haze,The fire is the latest dangerous incident involving Chinese contemporarylamps, which are increasingly released at weddings and other celebrations. experienced grower and co-founder of GrowWeedEasy, states, "HPS grow lights are often at the heart of many growing problems, especially when marijuana plants are grown in a small closet or cupboard. The heat given off by an HPS grow light quickly builds up and can seriously hurt and even kill a marijuana plant if the hot air is not vented out through an exhaust system"

The fact that HPS lights produce excessive heat is one of the major reasons why there is so much interest in LED grow lights.

In contrast with HPS lights, LED lights do not require growers to install expensive ducting or a ventilation system to control the heat.Browse through our impressive range of goodledbulbsop and buy online now.

In fact,With my divinglight2011 I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. according to the manufacturers’ specifications, most LED grow lights can be plugged into a standard electrical outlet and turned on immediately in any small space, with no worries about uncontrollable temperature changes.

So LEDs use less electricity and produce less heat than regular grow lights, why is there a controversy?

Nebula answers, "The question for any real-life pot farmer is this: Do LED grow lights really work for growing marijuana? Marijuana plants require a very specific type of light to grow. Can you still produce the prized THC-laden cannabis flowers using only one of these LED light systems"

To solve this puzzle, Nebula Haze joined forces with fellow grower endive, from GrowMedical420. The two of them recently released a review and case study of their attempts at growing marijuana with LED grow lights.

Minimalist magnetic LED bike lights turn on automatically when fitted

Bicycle accessory designer and manufacturer Copenhagen Parts has just announced a new range of magnetic bike lights. Called "Magnetic Bike Lights," the battery-powered LED lights may not have the novel power source of the Magnic Light we looked at in February, but they do have one nifty trick at their disposal: they automatically turn on and off when fitted and removed from a steel bicycle frame.

The insta-on/off isn't the Magnetic Bike Light's only nifty feature. Thanks to "a lot of time working on selecting the right components," Copenhagen Parts claims its lights can be fitted to different tube diameters. Though it doesn't say how, judging by one of the product shots it appears if a pair of magnets can be pivoted to hug surfaces of differing curvatures.

And Copenhagen Parts has clearly gone all-out for a simple, minimalist design. "The trouble is that there are hardly any good looking bike lights," the company says. We wanted something that looked good, worked well and, most importantly, could be fitted and removed instantly."

The Magnetic Bike Lights will be offered in two versions, the Randonneur and the Lode. The Randonneur features a polished machined aluminum finish while the Lode has an outer layer of silicone that will come in a variety of colors. Unsurprisingly the majority of the product photos (and certainly all of those that show the lights fitted to a bicycle) show the aluminum option - and attached to a racing bicycle it has to be said that they do look the part.

A neat feature of both models is that the lens will distribute light sideways, widening the angle of visibility at night - though as the company points out in the website, there's nothing to stop you buying extras to attach to the sides of the bike. You have to wonder, though, at the potential for confusion caused by motorists associating colored bicycle lights with particular directions of travel should these be plastered willy-nilly all over the frame. The best place to find ledlight, battery operated candles, wholesale votive candles, rechargeable candles, and battery taper candles. Needless to say both versions will come in both white and red lights - we imagine they'll be sold in sets of two, including one of each.

The Magnetic Bike Lights are not yet ready for order, but are due to arrive by Q3 of this year.Luminara flameless candles are designer outdoorlightui that are practically indistinguishable from traditional candles. The two outstanding questions are these: how much do they cost and how long do the batteries last? There's no public word from Copenhagen Parts at this point but if we hear anything more we'll let you know. While it is common for the term pendantlamp to be used interchangeably in informal discussion. And to reiterate these will only work with steel-frame bicycles. As Copenhagen Parts' website puts it - "sorry, but that's physics for you."

So we have a few months at our disposal, then, to try to decipher how Copenhagen Parts came up with the product's name.

Alabama cities want green light for ticket cams

Communities that dot the Alabama state map are pursuing authorization to post automated cameras to ticket drivers for running red lights.Hottest JDM 12V car LED bulbs, brightcrystal2011 accessories such as LED underbody lights, LED driving lights, error free LED bulbs.

Localities that include Center Point, Midfield, Opelika and Selma now use red-light cameras while the city of Montgomery utilizes red-light cameras and speed cameras. In addition, the city of Tuscaloosa is set to install red-light cameras in the months ahead.

Additional authority to use the revenue enhancing devices is sought in bills that cover Jefferson County,We've just finished our latest round of mountain outdoorlight reviews, which involved testing 27 sets, both ... and the towns of Irondale, Vestavia Hills,If you are interested in our solar street light, goodmagicshine, led light products. Phenix City and Prichard.

Awaiting consideration on the Senate floor is a bill covering Jefferson County. If signed into law, cities throughout the county would be authorized to post cameras at intersection to catch scofflaws. Offenders nabbed would face $100 fines.

Also advancing to the full Senate are bills to authorize installation solely in Irondale and Vestavia Hills. SB534 and SB546 are considered backup plans if the countywide bill – SB545 – fails to win approval.

House lawmakers voted unanimously to advance a separate bill to give the Russell County community of Phenix City the option to install automated cameras at intersections. The bill – HB575 – now awaits Senate floor consideration.Flameless Lanterns Outdoor weatherproof flameless bestledstriplight.

The town of Prichard in Mobile County could soon also get the go-ahead to post cameras. HB548 remains in a House committee with the Legislature’s projected adjournment in mid May.

Supporters say the equipment acts as a deterrent and helps snare red-light-running drivers who otherwise might not get caught.

Opponents note that research shows that lengthening yellow time reduces red-light running incidents between 30 percent and 92 percent.

Jim Walker, a consultant for the National Motorists Association, has noted that a similar rule in Georgia led to an 80 percent reduction in incidents. As a result, many communities removed cameras.

Then-Norcross, GA, Police Chief Dallas Stidd said at the time that the change made a big difference.

“The addition of one second has made a significant reduction in red-light violations,” Stidd wrote in a memo to the city council.

Isherwood says, "ETC continues to be the most requested of all our fixtures, and lighting designers are always looking to make the most of new and updated technology. ETC's LED fixtures provide a number of benefits - high light output, brilliant colours and low heat, without compromising on skin tones."

ETC's regional manager for UK & Ireland Mark White adds, "ETC firmly believes that no single fixture is perfect in all situations, which is why we now have a wide range of different types of fixtures - both LED and incandescent - which are specifically designed to work well together, giving designers layers of different types of light without compromising the quality of their work.

Philips Premieres New EnduraLED Lamps Featuring AirFlux Technology

Dutch LED giant Philips has developed a new series of EnduraLED lamps featuring new AirFlux technology. The advanced design boasts optimal thermal efficiency in a sleek, lightweight profile. Ideal for general and accent lighting in most retail, hospitality, office and residential applications, the EnduraLED AirFlux lamps provide a soft, diffused level of light and smooth dimming to reduce glare.

The AirFlux high-efficacy reflector lamps (PAR38, PAR30) offer a 45,000-hour lifespan along with color rendering of 83 CRI.The new LED fluorescentlights are much brighter and last much longer on a set of batteries. With my brightstal I could barely see much more than a few metres ahead of me. The 19.5W PAR38 (pictured above, on right) reduces energy consumption by 100.5W when compared to a standard 120W halogen PAR38. This means if you were to replace 100 halogen 120W PAR38 lamps, you could save approximately $3,300 per year in reduced energy consumption alone (at 3,000 hours annual usage,Browse a huge selection for ledflashlight at chinabuye.Energy efficient and high quality t8 goodledlight, flexible led strip, led light from Shengjing Optoelectronic manufacturer of LED lighting fixtures. paying $0.11 per kWh). Additionally, total savings is increased when factoring in the reduction in HVAC costs as well as reduced replacement and labor expenditures.

Also available in BR30 and BR40 (pictured above, on left), the AirFlux lamps offer soft uniform light for general downlight and recessed applications. The 13W BR30 saves 52 watts of energy compared to a standard 65W halogen BR30. This equates to roughly $17 per lamp replaced(at 3,000 hours annual usage, paying $0.11 per kWh). Also offering a rated lifespan of 45,000 hours, the BR lamps provide a color rendering of 82 CRI.

As with most modern LED lamps, the EnduraLED AirFlux series emit virtually no UV/IR light in the beam as well as containing no mercury or hazardous chemicals. Providing instant-on capability, the lamps are dimmable to 10% of full light levels when using leading edge dimmers (see Philips website for details on dimmer compatibility). Some of the attractions of skylanternsled are the cost savings, the safety and the flexibility.

LED Oracle believes that products like the AirFlux EnduraLED lamps represent a key transition in the growing LED industry. Currently, the main cause of LED lamp failure is heat buildup, causing chip degradation, especially in recessed applications. As LED microchip technology becomes more efficient, manufacturers will be able to reduce the overall energy load driving the chip, requiring less metal for cooling. Reduced metal usage allows for more practical industrial designs at a greatly reduced cost for consumers. Overall, lower prices increase the practical appeal of LED lighting for general illumination, as general consumers are hesitant about paying $50 for a single light bulb.

Green School Project completes first phase

The United States Green Building Council's Orange County chapter has completed the first phase of planning and installations at Davis Magnet School in Costa Mesa. The Green Classroom Project is a plan to renovate and "green" an existing classroom at the school.

The classroom "greenovation" will include a new energy-efficient HVAC system (heating, ventilation and air conditioning),Light On! outdoorlight are expedition grade systems that incorporate function and elegance with reliability. day-lighting and natural light installations, and improved acoustics. A second classroom will serve as a control, with no green upgrades, to illustrate the difference in environmental improvement and other factors.

Wendy Rogers, chair of the Green Schools Project for the USGBC-OC, explained that the benefits of greening the classroom translate to lower facilities and operating costs and healthier learning conditions.

"The economic environment that our public schools operate in is challenging. Green schools can be part of the solution. Less money spent on facility costs can be spent on our students for books, computers or even a teacher's salary," Rogers said. "Good teachers are the most important factor in improving student performance, but healthy school facilities contribute significantly as well. Healthy indoor air quality and classroom acoustics are just two elements of green schools that can contribute directly to enhanced student and teacher performance."

The first phase of the project, which included the installation of air-quality monitoring equipment in both classrooms,We've just finished our latest round of mountain bluecrystal reviews, which involved testing 27 sets, both ... was completed in December of last year. The equipment's sensors are collecting information on carbon dioxide levels,LED lights for bikes and HID modernlighting allow cyclists to ride at speed under virtually any conditions. temperature and humidity, as well as tracking information on energy usage, distinguishing between energy consumed by lighting, outlets, heating, air conditioning and ventilation.

Phase II of the project will begin in the summer, while the students are on break. During this phase, the classroom will be retrofitted, with any necessary construction and heavy equipment installations.

While Davis Magnet School is publicly funded, the project does not rely on any sources of public funding for its support; instead,LC LED provides eco-friendly energy efficient outdoorlights. corporate donations from local and national firms, including Disney, LPA Inc. and McCarthy Building Cos., have allowed the project to move forward. Contributions from Disney and Sunbelt Controls provided funding for the materials and the labor necessary for the monitoring systems installed in Phase I of the project.

Rogers explained that there are already a number of green schools in the region; the seventh in Orange County, Stonegate Elementary in the Irvine Unified School District, opened in September 2010. Her hope is that the Green Classroom Project at Davis Magnet will encourage other districts and communities to consider greening their school campuses.

"It's not just for the students, but also for the good stewardship for our dollars," she said,The USA's leading supplier of wish lanterns, crystal and thai lanterns. describing the project as "a good incentive for other school districts that might be wavering, to see the data, the change in air quality and energy use."

One of the stipulations of the competition was that the bulb be sold for $22 or less in its first year on the market.

But even at that price, LED lights faces serious competition from $1 incandescent lightbulbs and CFLs (compact-fluorescent bulbs), which normally retail for around $5 and can last for up to 10,000 hours, according to TreeHugger.

Philips says the cost of the LED lamp is easily offset by savings: if consumers use the bulb for four hours daily, they can save $8 per year on electricity, or about $160 over the bulb's lifespan, the Associated Press reports. And the LED bulbs are less toxic to the environment because they don't contain mercury vapors.

The company said in a press release earlier this year that "If every 60-watt incandescent bulb in the U.S. was replaced with the 10-watt L Prize winner, the nation would save about 35 terawatt-hours of electricity or $3.9 billion in one year and avoid 20 million metric tons of carbon emissions."

The transition from incandescent bulbs to energy-saving alternatives is already underway thanks to legislation such as 2007's Energy Independence and Security Act, which banned 100-watt incandescent bulbs and provided a timetable for phasing bulbs with lesser wattage out altogether. From 2014, all incandescent bulbs using 40 watts of electricity or more will be banned in the U.S., according to the Washington Post.

CSU presenter shows ways to save on energy bill

The Brush Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed CSU Extension Community Energy Coordinator Tim Edgar during their monthly luncheon at the Bunker Hill County Club on Wednesday.Browse through our impressive range of gooddstti and buy online now.

Edgar addressed the topic of energy retrofit grants to those in attendance and spoke about cash rebates that are available to businesses, non-profits, municipalities and churches in Xcel territories, as well as presented individual energy users good news about rebates offered through the Morgan County Rural Electric Association.

Edgar began by addressing the fact that the City of Brush is in Xcel Energy territory,I've seen my fair share of bestcflbulbs, but usually the lumens they output are fairly modest. making most business owners in Brush qualified to save energy with Xcel, specifically by replacing and retrofitting long-tube fluorescent light bulbs.

"If you have the 4 or 8 foot-long fluorescent bulbs in your business, you've probably had the same bulbs up there for some 30 years," began Edgar. "For many, the fluorescent bulbs can provide relatively good light, but they flicker and are by no means the greatest source of light. Many business owners are left wondering how to save money rather than keep throwing money at their energy consumption and how to have it better affect their bottom line."

With more and more businesses coming on to Xcel, the greater Xcel's energy consumption is going to be. Therefore, if Xcel can fix businesses energy consumption, the company won't have to grow its own energy demand so much and can hold fast to their good reputation, where you can learn about crystal_4 as well as buy your bike lights online. he explained.

In 2012, Xcel implemented a different version of their fluorescent lighting rebate, so that others might take an initiative to save money on their energy bill and thus save the amount of energy consumed.

Through this rebate, Xcel has given business owners the ability to save upwards of 40 percent on energy bills by simply replacing the long T12 fluorescent bulbs and ballasts.

"Simply take out your old light bulbs and old ballasts and purchase new electronic ballasts then put them in place," Edgar explained. "You can use your same fixtures if you want or get new fixtures if needed. We even have a video to show how you can do it yourself or you can get a contractor to do it."

In Brush alone, Edgar has seen replacements in business such as Brush Dental, which has just six lights, all the way to Eben Ezer which has several thousand fluorescent lights to replace.

"So it doesn't matter how many light fixtures you have," said Edgar. "You just have to spend the money up front and have lighting fixtures retrofitted out, then Xcel gives you significant rebates on them."

Right now, Edgar reports that rebates are at 130 percent of what it is actually listed at and dependent on fixture sizes, that could be anywhere from 75 to 50 percent of the fixture cost.

"If it costs you $30 to retrofit a fixture,Browse our selection for goodledlight, solar flood ... which is about right," noted Edgar, "and you get $15 to $20 of that back in rebate, then that is quite an opportunity."

Edgar also notes that the retrofit can make a business' lighting bill more efficient and can save upwards of 40 percent for each fixture that's changed out. After a quick unboxing of the Philips goodskylanterns, we take a look at other bulbs and their power consumption.

GeoGenix Completes Rooftop Solar System at Starfire Lighting in Wood-Ridge, N.J.

Energy-Efficient Lighting Company Gets Even Greener with Solar System. GeoGenix, an established industry leader in residential and commercial solar installations in the mid-Atlantic region, has announced that it recently completed the installation of a 133-kilowatt rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) generation system for Wood-Ridge, N.J.-based Starfire Lighting, a leading provider of energy-efficient lighting products.Great value ledbulbs perfect for everyday commuting.

"It's great to see a company in the energy efficiency space practicing what they preach," said Gaurav Naik, principal at Old Bridge, N.J.-based GeoGenix. "A lighting provider who designs and manufactures energy efficient lighting products with renewable energy -- it doesn't get any greener than that. This demonstration bestledlight2011 is Cree's brightest, most efficient LED light."

GeoGenix designed, engineered and installed the PV system on the roof of Starfire's one-story, 50,000-square-foot manufacturing and design facility at 7 Donna Drive. The system consists of 585 SunPower solar panels, which offset approximately 85 percent of the electricity consumed at the facility, equating to about $25,000 in savings on electricity costs annually.

GeoGenix is an industry leader with a proven track record in residential and commercial solar installations. It has been installing solar since 2001 and has the experience and expertise that have made it one of the region's most trusted solar installers.

Starfire funded the system through the New Jersey utility Public Service Electric & Gas' (PSE&G) solar loan program.LED light systems offer exceptional reliability and superior light yield vs standard outdoorlight2012 systems. The loan is being repaid with the Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) that the system generates.

SRECs are financial instruments that are purchased by utilities from solar producers such as homeowners and businesses in order to meet a state-mandated requirement for the generation of electricity from solar sources.

The company was one of the last to take advantage of PSE&G's solar loan program, which expired at the end of 2011. Starfire's loan covered about 60 percent of the cost of the PV system, with the remainder of the system being financed independently.

"The federal mandate to phase out incandescent bulbs has created an extremely competitive environment in the lighting industry," said Craig Newman, co-owner and principal of Starfire. "By bringing down our operating costs and providing protection against the inevitable rising cost of electricity, our solar system gives us a competitive edge."

Family-owned and established in 1975, Starfire Lighting designs, engineers and constructs high-quality linear, recessed, decorative and custom lighting products for high-end corporate interiors and retail spaces, serving the architectural, commercial, institutional, residential and entertainment industries. "We're thrilled to announce the completion of our solar system," said Newman. "At Starfire, energy efficiency is always top of mind when we are designing lighting products -- we're constantly striving to maximize efficiency. With our solar system, we're now able to maximize energy efficiency in the manufacturing of our products as well."
